Winners of photo and video competition on “Migrant” announced

Series of events have been continued on the eve of 12th anniversary of the establishment of the State Migration Service, March 19 - a professional holiday of the employees of migration bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On March 18, 2019 the winners and the awardees of the “Migrant” photo and video competition were awarded at the State Migration Service. At first, event participants got familiarize with photo exhibition.

In his opening speech, Chief of the State Migration Service, III rank state migration service councellor Vusal Huseynov emphasized the significance of interest on migration topic among creative individuals. He noted the efficiency and benefit of conveying information on migration processes occurring in the world, the reforms carried out in this field in the country, the measures and innovations conducted by the SMS to the society interms of awareness. Expressing his gratitude to each participant of the competition, the Service chief stated that the competition jointly implemented with the International Organization for Migration will be traditionally organized hereinafter and expressed his assurance on extension of its geographical scale and participants in the upcoming years.

Afterwards, the winner and the awardees were announced by the decision of chairman of the jury, the director of “Azerbaijanfilm” cinema studio named after Jafar Jabbarli, the chairman of the Republic Producers Guild, Honored Art Worker Mushviq Hatamov, Chief of the State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov, members of the jury, director, Honored Art Worker Elkhan Jafarov, photographer of press bodies of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, co-founder of “Gilavar” club, owner of the “Taraggi” medal Dilavar Najafov, member of the Azerbaijan Photographers Union, photo reporter of AzerTac, Honored Cultural Worker Ilgar Jafarov, Honored Artist, television presenter, journalist and screenwriter Nargiz Jalilova, as well as head of Azvision.az website Vusal Mammadov.

44 works of 18 authors in photo and 12 works of 11 authors in video competition were investigated by the jury. The presented photos taken in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Czech Republic, America and Germany. The photos of the photographers Aydin Mammadov with its “Migrants of the Republic of Senegal”, Lala Naghiyeva with "Syrian Refugees" and Karim Abbasov with “Don’t go” photos took the 3rd place. The Emil Ibrahimov`s "Pakistani child" and Mirnaib Hasanoglu`s "Refugee children from Karabakh" photos took the 2nd place. The winner of the best photo nomination was Afghan author Ahmad Javad Akbarzadeh`s “Woman`s sad feelings” artwork.

At the video nomination the video of “M production” “You are happy” won the 3rd place. Jeyhun Turksoy`s "Road" and Elshan Aliyev`s "The Only One" movies took the 2nd place. The "Boomerang" movie of Mehman Rasulov won the main prize in the nomination of best film.

Diplomas and precious gifts were presented to the winners and awardees.
