Next meeting of the Advisory Board
The next meeting of the Advisory Board under the State Migration Service was held on December 27, 2018. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the representatives of entrepreneurship organizations, employers' associations and large companies about the latest innovations in the field of migration, as well as to learn the opinion of private sector representatives on the impact of migration management on the business environment.
At the meeting Chief of the State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov said that the work on simplification of the legislation was continued and new laws, which envisage amendments to migration legislation, had been adopted. The Service chief noted that the purpose of the reforms was to ensure the convenience of foreigners visiting and living in the country, to increase attractiveness in terms of tourism and to support the development of entrepreneurship. Highlighting the regular activities by the State Migration Service to expand the service network the Service chief noted that service points of SMS had already started functioning at some border checkpoints.
The Service chief noted that the purpose of the newly launched "MIGAZ" mobile application of SMS was to ensure accessibility of the services offered by the Service, to render flexible and useful services to wider contingent, to provide initial information to foreigners and stateless persons traveling to our country about Azerbaijan, as well as the visa and migration rules.
Noting that raising awareness of foreigners and stateless persons, as well as the public in the sphere migration through special campaigns and tools was among the priorities, the Service chief emphasized that from this point of view, awareness-raising campaigns on migration had been strengthened in places where more contacts with foreigners were observed.
Afterwards discussions were held about future plans to address raised issues. Representatives of the Public Council under the State Migration Service, the British Business Group, the Representation of the Austrian Economic Chamber in Azerbaijan, as well as the Italy-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and other organizations shared their views on a number of issues.
