Chief of State Migration Service met with the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to Azerbaijan

Chief of the State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov met with the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan, Guido Ambroso, head of legal department Octavian Mohorea and deputy head of legal department Samira Allahverdiyeva.

During the meeting V. Huseynov gave detailed information on activity directions, the measures to ensure the rights and freedoms of foreigners and stateless persons applying for refugee status, as well as to eradicate statelessness. He stated that from this year registration of those persons is carrying out only by SMS and persons of this category and their family members are always paid attention and care in our country. It is planned to implement various projects related to the integration of persons who have obtained refugee status.

The Service Chief noted that the achievements attained through the effective relationship between the State Migration Service and the UNHCR Representation in Azerbaijan is indicator of the strengthening cooperation.

Expressing his gratitude to the Service chief for the warm welcome, UNHCR Representative in Azerbaijan Guido Ambroso touched upon the necessity for successful continuation of relations between the two institutions, expressed confidence that the joint efforts of the UNHCR and the SMS will be sustainable in the direction of eradicating statelessness, successful integration of persons who have obtained refugee status to the society and simplifying access to the labour market.

At the meeting the sides exchanged their views on other issues of mutual interest.
