The rights of foreign children in Azerbaijan always in the center of attention

Meeting with children at State Migration Service

An event was held at State Migration Service with the participation of  children growing up in families, who have been granted and applied for refugee status in Azerbaijan, on the occasion of the November 20 “International Children’s Rights Day” within the framework of “Children’s Rights Month” between October 20 – November 20.

Chief of the Refugee Status Determination Department, Aydan Seyidova in her opening remark gave information to the children about the essence of the day. She noted that the progressive steps taken by President Ilham Aliyev for the protection of children's rights, as well as attention and care of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva to children is very important not only for Azerbaijani, but also for foreign children living in our country. It was emphasized that the issues arising from legislation related to adaptation of foreign children to local conditions, their education, efficient organization of their leisure time and further expansion of their rights are always in the center of attention.

Sector chief of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Turan Jahangirova gave detailed information to the participants about  the history of the formation of children's rights, the national and international legal framework, the measures taken by the state in the field of children’s rights protection. At the end of the event presents were given to the children.
