Chief of State Migration Service met with the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan, Guido Ambroso.

During the meeting V. Huseynov gave detailed information on activities of the Service, the measures to ensure the rights and freedoms of foreigners and stateless persons applying for refugee status, as well as to eradicate statelessness. He stated that in our country, persons of this category and their family members are always paid attention and care.

The Service Chief noted that the achievements attained through the effective relationship between the State Migration Service and the UNHCR Representation in Azerbaijan are indicators of the strengthening cooperation.

Expressing his gratitude to the Service Chief for the warm welcome, UNHCR Representative in Azerbaijan Guido Ambroso touched upon the necessity for successful continuation of relations between the two institutions, expressed confidence that the joint efforts of the UNHCR and the SMS will be sustainable in the direction of eradicating statelessness, successful integration of persons who have obtained refugee status to the society.

At the meeting the sides exchanged their views on other issues of mutual interest.
