Information of the State Migration Service regarding the issuance of permits for temporary and permanent residence within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan

In relation to the questions from citizens, foreigners and stateless persons regarding changes to the migration legislation State Migration Service states that application period for temporary and permanent residence permits within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan has not changed and is as follows.

According to the Migration Code in case there are grounds for issuance of permit for temporary residence within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, foreigners and stateless persons should apply to State Migration Service to obtain permit in this regard at least 30 days before the expiry date of the temporary staying or temporary residence period.  

Extension of the term of temporary residence permit in Azerbaijan is also carried out in accordance with the same procedures applied for issuance of permits.

In case of existance of grounds for issuance of a permanent residence permit foreigners and stateless persons should apply to State Migration Service, at least 3 months before the expiry date of their permits for temporary residence within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A permit for permanent residence in the Republic of Azerbaijan is issued for the period of 5 years. At least 3 months before the expiry date of this permit, the permanent residence permit can be extended for 5 years upon application of a foreigner or stateless person. The number of extensions is not limited.

Those applying for a temporary or permanent residence permit within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan must follow the above mentioned periods.
