Inauguration of the newly established language laboratory held at the State Migration Service
Inauguration of the Language Laboratory established to improve the language skills of the Service staff was held in the headquarters of State Migration Service, on June 4.
At the opening ceremony participated management of the State Migration Service, high-level representatives of EU delegation to Azerbaijan, BP, United State Agency for International Development (USAID), International Organization for Migration.
Chief of State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov noted the importance of establishing a language laboratory, as well as the role for improving the quality and effectiveness of services provided at the Service. He expressed his gratitude to the partners supported the project. He stated that the language laboratory is a component within the framework of the activity "Establishing a Linguistic Laboratory" in accordance with the relevant paragraph of the project " Consolidation of Migration and Border Management Capacities in Azerbaijan". V. Huseynov added that effective mechanisms are being established and developed for the management of migration processes in our country. The main purpose of applying modern innovations in the service is to increase the employees' knowledge and skills, improve the quality of services provided and increase the satisfaction of service users. The chief of service mentioned that although the language laboratory is not so large, it has a special importance because it is related to science and knowledge and it will maintain its sustainability. This is an investment in education and SMS is interested in strengthening this center’s activities.
Head of European Union (EU) Delegation Kestutis Jankauskas called the opening of a language laboratory as a pragmatic measure.
BP Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gary Jones, described the establishment of a fully-equipped modern English language laboratory as a support to the Government of Azerbaijan in implementation of migration strategy.
Acting chief of USAID Mission in Azerbaijan Randall B. Olson and head of unit in IOM office in Azerbaijan Ms.Meltem Ersan emphasized migration as a global phenomenon and in this regard the importance of the laboratory for the development of English language skills.
The speakers noted that they are interested in continuing cooperation with State Migration Service.
Afterwards the ribbon was cut off symbolizing the opening of the language laboratory. The ceremony participants got acquainted with the activity of the laboratory.
The language laboratory is equipped with a computer set for 15 persons, projector and other necessary equipments for a teacher.
Implementatin of the project "Consolidation of Migration and Border Management Capacities in Azerbaijan (CMBA)" in 2014.
The project is implemented with main financial support of EU and joint financial support of BP and its partners, The Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) of the US State Department, US Agency for International Development and the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan and jointly carried out with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, State Migration Service, State Border Service,Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
