The meeting was held with the members of the Public Council under the State Migration Service (SMS)

The staff of all non-governmental organizations represented in the Council have participated in the meeting of the members of Public Council under the State Migration Service and the new chief of the SMS Vusal Huseynov.

The purpose of the meeting was to get acquainted with the activities of the Public Council and listen the proposals, to exchange views with the Council members on the realized issues and the activities of the Council.

Service chief Vusal Huseynov drew attention to the necessity of applying a new approach to SMS cooperation with civil society institutions, where transparency is defined as priority. He also noted the importance of the Public Council in the life of the Service and in migration processes. V.Huseynov underlined that the substantial efforts will be made to ensure the services provided by the SMS to be seemed as in reality. He emphasized the importance of expanding the exchange of information on the appeal and other proposals addressed by the public sector. He said that one of the main goals of the Public Council was to co-ordinate the activities of public institutions and to participate in the decision-making process.

Chairman of the Public Council Azer Allahveranov, members of the Council Sahib Mammadov and Kamala Mammadova praised the role of the chief of the Service at the beginning of the activity and made suggestions for a number of issues that concern the publicity and the Council.

Highly appreciating the proposals covering either institutional, or legislative and other fields, V. Huseynov said that the issues discussed at the upcoming meetings will be ensured by the participation of specialized non-governmental organizations. And he said meetings would be held regularly. The head of the service added that members of the Public Council should freely engage in all aspects of the SMS activities, as well as visit the Detention Center.
