5 citizens of Sri Lanka were detained during measures against illegal migration

The State Migration Service together with the State Border Service detained 5 citizens of Sri Lanka during the measures against illegal migration.

The investigation revealed that Sri Lankan citizens had come to Azerbaijan by using the Azerbaijan-Iran-Turkey route to travel to Europe illegally. An international group consisting of persons named Sangal in France, Usmandar in Turkey, and Zaki living in Iran organized illegal travel of these persons to Europe. For this purpose, citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan Iltimas Aliyev provided accommodation for the citizens of Sri Lanka first in Baku upon application of Zaki. Later, foreigners were detained while being transferred to Yardimli region for the purpose of illegal crossing of the state border by order of Zaki.

As a result of the joint investigations, the organizers of the illegal migration channel have been disclosed.

Relevant measures are taken in the direction of expulsion of the detained foreigners from the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
