The event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the 1918 genocide of Azerbaijanis has been held at the State Migration Service (SMS).
At first a minute's silence was observed to commemorate the victims of the genocide.
At the event First Deputy Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service counselor Vali Naghiyev gave information on the crimes of genocide committed in the region at the beginning of XX century by Armenian nationalists and terrorist bandit gangs, as well as by the Dashnaksutyun party. He spoke about the importance of the Order of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of January 18, 2018 on the 100th anniversary of 1918 genocide of Azerbaijanis. He stated that as mentioned in the Order throughout the last 20 years, a large number of new facts and documents were collected, a mass grave was found in Guba. The revealed historical facts proved that the geography of blood acts committed by Armenian nationalists in March-April of 1918 was much wider and the number of victims of the tragedy was much higher.
Head of the Department of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, historian Firdovsiyya Ahmadova delievered a speech at the event. She brought to the attention of the participants that Armenian dashnaks and terrorist organizations which dream of creating a "great Armenia", in order to achieve this goal, carried out mass extermination and bloody massacre against the Muslim-Turkish population from time to time. The most terrible one of these massacres is the March genocide of 1918. At that time tens of thousands civilian residents just because of ethnicity and religious affiliation were murdered in Baku, as well as in other cities and provinces by Armenian dashnaks and armed bandit gangs, settlements were destroyed, mosques and cemeteries were razed to the ground.
The speaker brought to the attention of the participants with concrete facts that as a result of ethnic cleansing and the policy of genocide carried out by Armenians along with killing Azerbaijani civilians, historic and cultural monuments of our nation were destroyed. She stated that the crime against Azerbaijanis in 1918 was implemented with great brutality. She emphasized that Bolsheviks actively supported the accumulation of Armenians in Baku and supplying them with the arms of the army returning from the front. As a result dashnaks got a great military potential.
In the later period, furious Armenian nationalists continued their inhuman acts, committed massacres, plunders and ethnic cleansing in Garabagh, Zangazur, Nakhchivan, Shirvan, Iravan and in the other regions.
Referring to the historic facts, the scientist stated that two months after the tragedy the activity of the Emergency Investigation Commission created by the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan to research the horrors of the genocide was stopped after the collapse of the republic and it prevented the genocide to receive its deserved political and legal assessment. The adequate political assessment to those tragic events was given only in the Decree of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev of March 26, 1998 “On the Genocide of Azerbaijanis” and 31 March was announced as “the Day of Genocide of the Azerbaijanis”.
At the end the participants watched a documentary film of the Azerbaijan Television “Truth and hypocrisy”.
