Oath ceremony of the persons who acquired the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan
On March 29, the oath ceremony of the persons who acquired or restored the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at the State Migration Service.
Chief of the Citizenship Issues General Department, III rank state migration service counselor Rza Talibov stated that the State Migration Service participates in citizenship issues according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of March 6, 2008. Furthermore, establishment of the affiliation to the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been defined as the obligation of the State Migration Service by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of February 11, 2015. The event provided information about the achievements as a result of the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan in recent years, the political, economic and cultural contributions of our country which is perceived as a model of stability, multiculturalism and tolerance as an equal member of the international community. The increase in the number of those who want to reside, receive education, as well as acquire the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan was highlighted.
The measures carried out in our country for the eradication of the statelessness were highlighted, as well. Only in 2017, citizenship affiliation of 31, 690 persons were examined, 27, 088 persons were recognized as citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and they were provided with the identity documents of the citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the relevant state agency.
Later 58 persons who acquired and 2 persons who restored the citizenship solemnly took an oath of loyalty to the Republic of Azerbaijan by placing their hands on the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan in front of the state flag.
The Oath ceremony is conducted in compliance with Article 15-1. of the “Law on Citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan” added on December 30, 2014.
The citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan signs the text of the oath and the document is deposited with the State Migration Service.
The event finished with singing of the National Anthem.
