Meetings with foreign students continuied

On the eve of the 11th anniversary of the establishment of the State Migration Service, awareness raising events were held at the Baku Slavic University and the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts.

During the meetings, information was provided on a number of changes made to the migration legislation, innovations covering migration processes in the country, as well as the conditions created for foreigners and stateless persons in our country.

One of the measures taken for the regulation of migration processes on the basis of unified procedures and facilitation of documentation is a Decree on the application of the ““one-stop-shop” principle in migration management” signed by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on March 4, 2009. Application of the above-mentioned decree facilitated management of migration processes upon more flexible and effective mechanisms, ensured efficiency in this field and created opportunity to eliminate the occurring problems.

It was noted that foreigners living in our multiculturally rich and diverse country willing to learn Azerbaijani language, history, culture, legislation on rights and duties of foreigners and stateless persons can apply to the training center of the State Migration Service. During the meeting, temporary or permanent residence permits, work permits for carrying out paid labor activity and cases for the extension of their periods were brought to the attention of the participants. In addition, they were also informed about the privileges granted to foreign students in the country.

It was also mentioned that today the entrance date of foreigners and stateless persons to the country, their place of residence, place of work and exit date are completely under control of State Migration Service through the Unified Migration Information System.  Therefore, foreign nationals living in the country must adhere to the declared purpose of arrival.

At the end, questions of the participants were answered by the staff of the Service.
