Commemoration ceremony held at State Migration Service regarding the 26th anniversary of Khojaly genocide

At the beginning memory of the victims of genocide was revered with one minute’s silence.

First Deputy Chief of State Migration Service, III rank state migration service counselor Vali Naghiyev talked about genocide committed against civilians in Khojaly by Armenians and their patrons. Providing information about the universal tragedy of XX century - Khojaly genocide he noted that on the night of February 25 to 26, 1992 serious crime with unprecedented violence was committed by Armenian executioners in Khojaly.

Armenian vandals demonstrated mercilessness by murdering children, women and elderly people with torture. As a result of the genocide 613 persons, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 elderly persons were killed. 8 families were completely wiped out, 25 children lost both parents, and 130 children lost one parent. Moreover, 1275 persons were taken hostage, while the fate of another 150 people remains unknown.

It was brought into attention that significant progress were achieved on recognition of this genocide by world community as a result of launching “Justice for Khojaly” international campaign with the initiative of vice president of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Ms.Leyla Aliyeva. Furthermore, Azerbaijani state takes all relevant steps towards achieving real assessment to this genocide. It was stated that every Azerbaijani citizen should be active in this work and decently implement his/her duties. It was mentioned that Azerbaijani people regularly suffered from ethnic cleansing, as well as genocide policy by Armenian nationalists throughout the history.

The recognition of this tragedy by several countries and international organizations as a genocide and rapid continuation of this process was brought into attention.
