The Head of State Migration Service met with the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to our country

Chief of the State Migration Service, II rank state migration service (SMS) counselor Firudin Nabiyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan Onno Kervers. 

At the meeting, the sides touched upon the current state and perspectives of cooperation in the field of migration. The importance of Twinning, as well as MOBILAZE projects implemented in the framework of bilateral and multilateral cooperation was highlighted. Confidence in the contribution of the discussions held during mutual visits, including the visit of the Director General of the Repatriation and Departure Service of the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands was expressed.

The issues of facilitation of the visa issuance procedures in Azerbaijan, the importance of providing foreigners and stateless persons with e-visa within 3 hours via the “ASAN Visa” system, as well as the recent work on illegal migration in our country were discussed at the meeting. It was noted that not all persons were emphasized and of illegal migration intend to stay in Azerbaijan, but use the territory of our republic as a transit to go to third countries.

F. Nabiyev said that it is important to pay attention to the issues such as prompt resolution of the problems arising during the proses of implementation of the readmission agreement, as well as difficulty in establishing identity of the persons originating from the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan and illegally residing in European Union Member States. The importance of providing assistance by Member States for the reintegration of the readmitted persons was emphasized and the "Government Assistance +" project of the Government of Germany, implemented for the persons voluntary returning to their countries was shown as an example.

The Chief of the Service gave broad information about the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan and Khojaly genocide, the tragedy of the century, which Armenians committed against Azerbaijanis 26 years ago. He mentioned that a monument in the memory the victims of the Khojaly tragedy was erected in The Hague. 

Ambassador Onno Kervers thanked the Chief of the S ervice for his time for the meeting. He said he would support the further development of the cooperation in the field of migration.
