Meeting with Regional Coordinator of U.S. State Department of Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration held in State Migration Service
The first deputy chief of State Migration Service, III rank state migration service counselor Vali Nagiyev met with Regional Coordinator of U.S. State Department of Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration Jonathan Hays, who is on a visit in Azerbaijan.
Giving broad information on activity directions of the Service, V.Nagiyev informed that State Migration Service implements functions as registration of foreigners and stateless persons upon place of stay, extension of temporary staying period, granting permits for temporary and permanent residence, adoption, revocation, restoration of citizenship, as well as establishment of citizenship and determination of refugee status, issuing work permits for carrying out labor activity and extending period of existing work permits. The first deputy chief of the Service gave information on work of Detention Centers for Illegal Migrants of SMS.
Then V.Nagiyev gave information on the model of Azerbaijan, which sets an example for the countries facing similar problems as a result of successful state policy conducted by Ilham Aliyev to solve the problems of more than one million people living in conditions of refugees and displaced persons, as a result of Armenia's aggression.
At the meeting Jonathan Hays shared his opinion on current situation concerning refugees and asylum seekers in the modern world.
The guest expressed his gratitude for detailed information at the meeting where a number of issues of mutual interest were discussed.
