Official statistics of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2017

Relevant measures towards strengthening state control over migration processes, as well as prevention of illegal migration have been conducted by the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan during last year.

During 2017 21438 decisions were made on violation of migration, as well as administrative legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan by foreigners and stateless persons as a result of measures and investigations conducted in Baku city, as well as in other cities and districts of the Republic. This includes 2576 decisions on legalization of residence within the territory of the country, 11379 decisions on imposition of the penalty without administrative expulsion from the territory of the country, 6330 decisions on imposition of the penalty with administrative expulsion from the territory of the country, 911 decisions on restriction of entry to the territory (if person has been involved in administrative liabilities for violating the migration legislation twice or more in the last 3 years) of the country in accordance with Article 16.1.8 of the Migration Code, 242 decisions on replacement of document for temporary and permanent residence.

In total during 2017 State Migration Service received 92035 applications from foreigners and stateless persons for extending temporary staying period, obtaining temporary and permanent residence permissions, adoption, revocation and restoration of citizenship, as well as establishing citizenship and determining refugee status, issuing work permits for carrying out labor activity and extending period of existing work permits. Each application was investigated individually in accordance with legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and relevant decisions were made.

794763 applications of foreigners and stateless persons on registration upon place of stay were registered during 2017.
